Last November we were going to Ottawa, ON to pickup our Miniature Dapple Dachshund. Upon looking for places to stay we had a few requirements in mind. We needed to be close to the location in which we were meeting the breeders to pick up the puppy. That wasn’t difficult as it was a pretty central location in Ottawa. Next up, we were wanting a hotel with a hot tub and pool for us to soak and relax in. We also needed comfort (of course!) and to have Gluten Free food options also.

After doing my research I discovered a new hotel (Sandman Hotels Ottawa) has recently opened in 2019 in Ottawa just near the airport. Sandman Hotels is a chain which has locations all across Ontario, and they are an upscale, boutique style hotel. We made our reservations thru their head office in Vancouver, and were very excited for our stay. Kyra was extremely helpful via email, and even provided us a FREE upgrade for booking. That was a really special treat for us and we were very grateful for the upgrade.

Upon arriving at Sandman Hotels Ottawa we were told that sadly the Pool & Hot Tub is not open yet. That was a disappointment but its understandable given that the hotel is still so new. Within the hotel there is a Chop Steakhouse, which again is a chain restaurant Steak House in which has plenty of Gluten Free options (More on this meal in a separate blog post!). We were able to eat at Chop Steak House Ottawa for our dinner which is attached right to the hotel for convenience.

The bed and room at Sandman Hotels Ottawa were absolutely tip top. There was a fridge, cabinets, almost a full kitchen! They supplied Starbucks Coffee for the coffee pot, although the grinds that I got were actually expired in my room, but coffee is coffee so I wasn’t going to make a big deal of it. The water pressure was sub par, at best. I certainly wasn’t able to wash my hair because the stream was so light it would have never gotten all the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair. That was a downfall. Also there was talk of room service, but no menu’s were in the rooms to order from.

All in all I would say we will definitely stay at Sandman Hotels Ottawa again. I look forward to going back and trying out the pool and hot tub once it is open and running, but overall the stay was fantastic. Sandman Hotels Ottawa also allow pets which is something we definitely need, having 2 dachshunds! It was a great location to bring our little Dachshund Puppy home with us, and it truly felt like home in Ottawa.

Hope you enjoyed this blog and sound off below if you’re planning to stay at Sandman Hotels Ottawa!
